Job Summary

The jobholder is primarily responsible for managing all airport studies and related activities, including master plans, traffic forecasts, surveys, feasibility studies, business cases, and FEED on a global level within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage the Airport Department targets included in the Transportation Sector business plan
  • Lead the conceptual design activities for airport projects covering all modes including traffic forecasts and operations
  • Manage master plans and airport integration with the urban fabric and transportation connections and access
  • Manage modeling teams for the traffic simulations and traffic within the airports
  • Manage passenger, cargo and military terminal studies
  • Provide input on the Airport Planning capacity and capability to deliver projects, outsourcing needs, expert knowledge, and man-hour estimates during the proposal development stage
  • Recommend and engage specialty suppliers for the Airport Planning Projects, as needed
  • Assign Airport Planning experts and engineers to projects in Geographies, in coordination with Geography Managers
  • Oversee design development of the Airport Planning teams in the Cairo design center during conceptual stages (Master Plan, Feasibility Study, and FEED)
  • Provide technical advice to planners and design teams, during all study phases, as required
  • Review deliverables prepared by the Airport Department and ensure correct implementation of quality control measures
  • Lead value engineering activities for deliverables prepared in the Airport Planning Department
  • Ensure close coordination and knowledge sharing between the Airport Planning Department and other sectors and design centers within the K&A network through periodic meeting

Qualification, and Technical Skills Required to Execute this Role

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Master's Degree in a related topic is an advantage
  • PMP certification is preferred
  • Chartered Professional Engineering certification or equivalent is preferred
  • Strong project management skills
  • In-depth knowledge of the Airport Planning industry
  • Sound knowledge of Airport Planning regulations and design requirements
  • Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
  • Marketing and sales skills and track record in developing relationships with clients
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English; Arabic is an advantage

Experience Required to Execute this Role

  • 20+ years of industry experience in Airport Studies of which at least 10 years are in a Project Manager role at a design, engineering and project management consultancy firm
  • Strong experience and track record in managing large and complex Airport studies
  • General experience in coordinating with other engineering disciplines typically involved in Airport Planning projects such as architectural design, structural design, drainage, signaling, traction power design, etc.
  • Experience in airport operations and IATA regulations
  • Experience with operational studies
  • Experience with passenger flows and intermodal studies
  • Exposure to global best practices and trends in Engineering and Airport Planning industry
  • Significant industry experience within the Middle East is preferred
