Job Summary

The Engineer, Power Distribution supports the design and delivery of power distribution and electrical infrastructure projects. The role works closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to develop concept, schematic, and detailed designs that meet client requirements, applicable international standards and codes, and project quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of power distribution designs, including load assessments, single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, cable routing, earthing and lighting designs, and associated calculations, drawings, and reports.
  • Assist in developing concept, schematic, and detailed design packages for distribution networks, substations, low- and medium-voltage systems, and related electrical infrastructure.
  • Prepare and update design deliverables under the guidance of senior engineers, including drawings, technical specifications, bills of quantities, calculation notes, and design reports.
  • Coordinate electrical design requirements with other disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, water and environment, and architecture, throughout all project design stages.
  • Participate in design reviews, address comments from senior engineers and checking reports, and implement required revisions.
  • Support senior project team members in identifying practical and cost-effective design solutions and value engineering opportunities.
  • Assist in coordinating design deliverables with clients and other stakeholders, documenting feedback and supporting the incorporation of approved comments.
  • Support Project Managers and senior engineers in preparing progress updates and maintaining design records.
  • Follow project quality-control procedures and contribute to peer reviews of design deliverables, as assigned.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant power distribution standards, codes, and industry practices.

Required Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in power systems, electrical infrastructure, or transmission and distribution design.
  • Understanding of power distribution systems, including low- and medium-voltage networks, substations, transformers, switchgear, cables, and protection principles.
  • Familiarity with relevant international standards and codes of practice, such as IEC, IEEE, and local utility requirements.
  • Practical knowledge of relevant engineering software, such as ETAP, Revit/BIM, or similar tools, is preferred.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic.
