Job Summary
The Senior Project Engineer – Distribution leads design teams and manages design delivery activities for distribution projects at K&A. The role serves as a key counterpart to Project Managers and supports client interactions, including the review, validation, checking, and coordination of design deliverables across all project phases. The Associate Principal – Distribution leads value engineering efforts and supports project budget, schedule, client, technical, and quality management activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design teams throughout the delivery of power distribution projects.
- Lead client discussions to establish design criteria, including budgets, preferences, and project requirements.
- Develop and present concept, schematic, and final designs for complex projects, including all required drawings and reports.
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination with Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Transportation, and other disciplines throughout all design stages.
- Work with stakeholders on value engineering, and with Project Managers, clients, and authorities to review, validate, obtain feedback on, and secure approvals for design deliverables.
- Coordinate with the Quantity Surveying Department on tender documents, including specifications, Bills of Quantities, and Conditions of Contract, and support the tender process as needed.
- Review and coordinate the checking of design deliverables, including detailed reviews, quality checks, checking reports, and peer reviews.
- Support the development and management of work programs, man-hour estimates, project scope changes, budgets, resources, schedules, contractual risks, suppliers, and subcontracts.
- Support the preparation of periodic project progress reports.
- Provide design support during supervision, including responding to RFIs and resolving design conflicts in coordination with local design support teams.
- Represent K&A on power distribution matters, present design outcomes to clients, and support business development and marketing activities across geographies in coordination with Geography Managers.
- Ensure client satisfaction with power distribution design deliverables prepared by the Lebanon Design Center.
Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering
- Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration is preferred
- 12+ years of experience in power / transmission and distribution infrastructure design
- Strong experience and track record in managing large and complex power / distribution design projects
- Significant experience in transmission and distribution systems analysis
- Exposure to global best practices and trends in the Architecture, Engineering and Planning Industry, in particular related to transmission and distribution
- Significant industry experience within the Middle East is preferred
- Sound knowledge of transmission and distribution design requirements and environmental policies
- Understanding of international engineering standards and codes
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic
