Job Summary

An  Associate Principal – Airports (Airside)  leads complex airside planning, design, and engineering initiatives for major global and regional airport developments.In this role, you will bridge technical excellence with strategic project delivery and business development. You will be responsible for directing high-value airside design projects—including pavements, taxiways, runways, aprons, geometric layout, and navigational aid (NAVAID) integration—while managing multi-disciplinary teams, fostering client relationships, and ensuring compliance with international aviation regulatory standards (ICAO, FAA, EASA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex airside engineering projects from master planning and conceptual design through detailed design and construction support.

  • Oversee geometric design of runways, taxiways, and aprons, capacity analyses, pavement design (flexible and rigid), airfield lighting, markings, and signage layout.

  • Ensure seamless integration of airside designs with landside infrastructure, terminal operations, airspace considerations, and environmental regulations.

  • Serve as the Senior Engineer of Record / Technical Authority on major airfield deliverables, conducting rigorous quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews.

  • Support market growth by identifying business opportunities, cultivating relationships with airport authorities, concessionaires, and contractors, and leading proposal efforts.

  • Prepare technical proposals, scope-of-work documents, and fee estimates for prospective aviation projects.

  • Pitch technical solutions to existing and prospective clients, representing the firm as an industry subject matter expert (SME).

  • Mentor, train, and manage a team of airside engineers, designers, and specialists, cultivating technical excellence and professional growth.

  • Optimize team resource allocation, project budgeting, and schedule performance across multiple concurrent airfield projects.

  • Drive innovation within the team by introducing modern digital delivery methodologies, parametric design, and airfield modeling tools.

Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering from an accredited institution. Master’s degree in Civil or Airport Engineering preferred.

  • Experience: 10 to 20 years of progressive experience in civil engineering with a dedicated focus on airside infrastructure design and airport master planning.

  • Professional Licensure: Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PE), or equivalent professional registration with a recognized engineering board is required.

  • Project Track Record: Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams on medium-to-large hub airport expansion and greenfield airport projects internationally or regionally.

  • Proficiency in Arabic and English Languages
