Job Summary
The Design Landscape Architect leads the delivery of landscaping design projects. He works closely with Team Leaders, Associate Principals and design teams to develop different landscape design options and to refine selected designs across the project design cycle, including conceptual landscape designs, preliminary, final detailed designs, tender documents, issue for construction for projects. The jobholder shall stay abreast of the latest trends and developments in landscaping design and share his knowledge with team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Support in conducting site surveys and investigations, as needed
- Review site surveys
- Conduct data collection from all concerned entities in collaboration with local teams, including climate, meteorology, soil specifications, water sources, local species, natural hazards, etc.
- Develop a data inventory system and archive necessary data to share with project team members, as needed
- Analyse collected data and identify main design constraints and key challenges, and periodically meet with design teams of other specialisations to integrate landscape design constraints, as needed
- Produce a data collection report for projects, highlighting all collected and missing data
- Develop different landscape design options for projects, during strategic and master planning phase in coordination with Urban Designers, Urban Planners, Architects, Irrigation Engineers and other relevant design teams, as needed
- Develop alternative conceptual landscape designs for projects reflected in the form of plans, sections, mood boards, perspectives, and material boards, as appropriate
- Develop landscape concept design in the next phases: schematic, detailed, tender, IFC
- Refine selected landscape design option into preliminary and final detailed designs, projects in coordination with other design disciplines, including the development of required drawings and graphical materials, as needed
- Develop landscape tendering documents and closely work with the Quantity Surveying Department for the development of final specifications, landscape palettes, Bills of Quantities and Conditions of Contract

- Review and conduct design checks for designs, in coordination with Landscape Architects
Specific Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Landscape Architecture
- Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture is preferred
- From 3 to 5 years of experience in landscaping design in a top tier regional / multinational engineering consultancy firm or in a boutique landscaping firm
- Exposure to a variety of landscaping projects
- Exposure to conceptual landscape planning and eco-system management
- Exposure to Sustainability concepts
- Exposure to global best practices and trends in landscaping design
- Good knowledge of horticulture and irrigation
- Excellent graphic design skills
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Good communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic
