Job Summary
Lead Smart Mobility & Systems Design Engineer to lead the planning, architecture, and design of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and smart mobility solutions across highways, urban roads, tunnels, rail, airports, and smart city programs.
The role is ideal for a senior professional who can work on bridge transportation systems engineering, ICT, and smart city platforms, providing technical leadership across the full lifecycle—from concept and strategy through design, tendering, and implementation support.
Key Responsibilities
Smart Mobility System Design
- Design and lead integrated smart mobility and ITS systems design connecting:
- Field ITS devices and roadside equipment
- Traffic Management Centers (TMCs)
- Road Central Command & Control Centers
- Citywide and Smart City digital platforms
- Ensure interoperability, scalability, and future readiness through open standards and modular designs.
- Define system integration interfaces between ITS and:
- Public transport and transit systems
- Parking and enforcement platforms
- Emergency and incident response systems
- Urban mobility dashboards and data platforms
- Lead technology readiness planning for:
- Cooperative ITS (C‑ITS)
- V2X technologies (V2V, V2I, V2P)
- Connected and future autonomous mobility frameworks
Network & Communications Design
- Lead the design of ITS communication and networking solutions, including:
- Fiber optic backbone and access networks
- Wireless technologies (Wi‑Fi, LTE/4G, 5G, DSRC, C‑V2X, as applicable)
- IP/MPLS‑based transport networks
- Define requirements for QoS, latency, redundancy, resilience, and cybersecurity for mission‑critical systems.
- Coordinate with ICT and enterprise network teams to ensure seamless integration with municipal and authority networks.
Analysis, Planning & Strategy
- Conduct or review:
- Traffic demand, capacity, and operational performance analyses
- ITS operational assessments and optimization studies
- Develop ITS deployment strategies aligned with:
- Traffic management and operational efficiency goals
- Road safety, resilience, and sustainability objectives
- Smart city, digital mobility, and innovation roadmaps
- Define data and analytics requirements for:
- Traffic operations and monitoring
- Incident management and response
- Mobility dashboards and decision‑support platforms
Deliverables & Documentation
- Lead the preparation and review of:
- ITS layouts, system drawings, and deployment plans
- System and network architecture diagrams
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Technical specifications and standards
- Bills of Quantities (BoQs)
- Lead or support:
- RFP(request for proposals) and tender documentation
- Technical bid evaluations and clarifications
- Vendor, OEM, and system integrator technical assessments
Implementation Support & Technical Governance
- Provide technical leadership during:
- Detailed design development
- Construction and system implementation
- System integration, testing, and commissioning
- Review and approve:
- Method statements and implementation plans
- FAT, SAT, and UAT procedures
- Ensure systems are delivered in accordance with approved designs, standards, and operational requirements.
Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Electrical Engineering
- ICT / Telecommunications Engineering
- Transportation / Traffic Engineering
- Or a related engineering discipline
- Master’s degree is an advantage
- 8–12+ years of professional experience in:
- ITS and smart mobility engineering
- Traffic management and transport systems design
- Proven delivery experience on:
- Highways and urban road networks
- Tunnels and complex transport corridors
- Rail, metro, or airport environments
- Experience with large‑scale infrastructure or smart city programs is highly desirable.
